Production Technician

April 2026

About us:

MastaPlex developed and markets the Mastatest system, a world-leading approach to on-farm diagnostic testing used primarily in bovine mastitis in dairy cows. The system simultaneously identifies bacteria in a sample, and its sensitivity to common antibiotics. This enables farmers and veterinarians to deliver precise, data-driven treatments. This leads to better health outcomes, and improved farm profitability.

We are a rapidly growing New Zealand-owned business headquartered in Dunedin and with established exporting to 25 markets around the world. Our patent-protected technology has been recognized both locally and internationally for its innovation and impact on farms. In 2025 alone, MastaPlex was a finalist in the International Dairy Federation Innovation Awards (Sustainable Farming Practices), the New Zealand International Business Awards (Excellence in Innovation), and the winner of the Grand Business South award for Excellence in Science and Technology.

Our offices, laboratory, and production facilities are centrally located at the Centre for Innovation, on the University of Otago campus (opposite the clocktower).
