Dunedin, New Zealand: 2 December 2025
MastaPlex Limited today announced it has raised just over NZD $2million in new capital following a significantly oversubscribed funding round. The round was led by Artemis Capital, a new investor in the company, alongside strong support from existing shareholders.
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the global expansion of Mastatest - MastaPlex’s advanced mastitis diagnostics platform - across key international dairy markets, while further strengthening the company’s leadership in dairy data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Board Chair, Dr Ben Russell, said:
“Dr Bork and the MastaPlex management team have delivered strong progress towards the strategic goals set by the Board over the past year. This momentum put us in an excellent position as we entered the capital markets, despite the challenging funding environment. This investment provides a solid runway toward the company’s international growth pathway.”
CEO, Dr Olaf Bork, commented:
“Achieving growth in the USA is a major strategic focus for the coming year. Our growing foothold in this significant dairy market gives us the critical mass needed for expansion into additional wider North and South American markets.”
He added: “We will also continue to invest in AI and data analytics, where Mastatest holds a significant competitive advantage. Our customers tell us daily that manual data handling and processing is no longer good enough. Dairy farms are rapidly adopting high-tech solutions and leveraging deeper insights to drive long-term herd and farm planning. MastaPlex is uniquely positioned within the market to support this new era of data-driven farming.”
This capital injection comes on the back of rapid growth and expansion in recent years, and both local and international recognition for its technology and business success. This has included being a finalist in the International Dairy Federation Innovation Awards 2025, a finalist at the NZ International Business Awards 2025, being named in the BNZ Fast 50 as fastest growing agri-business in Otago/Southland, and winning the Grand Business South 2025 award for Excellence in Science and Technology.
